God's Holiness, Our Access Through Jesus | Abby Kemp

Updated: Mar 19

Hello all you wonderful people! I wanted to encourage you guys with something the Lord has been teaching me lately. I get the blessing to be in Bible college and right now I’m taking an Old Testament survey class. Last week we went through Leviticus and this week we are going Numbers (I know, everyone’s favorite books of the Bible). But actually, the Lord has opened my eyes to the beauty of these lesser known books. One thing that really stood out to me while reading through Leviticus and Numbers was the powerful holiness of God. Today, we read the laws and think how strict they are. But they had to be strict for God to dwell among a sinful people. Through these laws, He provided a way for Israel to live in close proximity to His holiness without being destroyed by it. How often do we realize how incredibly holy the King truly is? There were severe, fatal consequences in the Old Testament for trivializing God’s holiness. One could not approach God in an impure state. The problem is that each of us are sinful and cannot dwell in proximity with God with all our sin. So the Father sent His very own Son to be the sacrifice and the atonement for our sins. And now, though the Son, we have the mind blowing privilege to boldly approach His throne. The writer of Hebrews extends us an invitation: “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) What an honor we have to come before our King with confidence and know that He extends mercy, grace, and love to us because His Son has taken our death penalty. Praise God for His incredible gift! Remember the holiness of our God as well as the confidence we have through Jesus.

I love you all!
